F.A.Q.

How exactly does the generation of the PDF work?
The form data is submitted to our server where the PDF is generated. The generated PDF is then sent back to your server where it's stored.

The data submitted to the Legal Signing server is immediately deleted automatically. No data is retained.
Are there any limits on how many PDFs I can generate?
No! All Legal Signing plans come with unlimited PDF generation.
Do I need the Gravity Forms Signature Add-On?
No! Legal Signing includes a Legal Signature form field that lets you capture both written and drawn signatures, and generates legally binding documents using those signatures. You can also capture signatures via the official Gravity Forms Signature Add-On (which are out of the box not legally binding).
Is Legal Signing compliant with my country's signature regulations?
Legal Signing is designed, in conjunction with our legal counsel, primarily to be compliant with the ESIGN and UETA acts within United States law.

E-signature laws will vary by country or jurisdiction, so we would recommend taking a look at our compliance page for a full breakdown on what we do to make the plugin legally compliant with ESIGN and UETA.

We cannot consult on whether Legal Signing meets legal compliance for a given jurisdiction or country outside of what is mentioned on the above linked compliance page. If you're in doubt if Legal Signing will meet the requirements for your country or jurisdiction's e-signature laws, we would recommend contacting a lawyer in your country or jurisdiction who is familiar with your e-signature laws.
Does Legal Signing support payment add-ons?
Currently the plugin does not support payment collection within a form using a Legal Signing worfklow in all situations.

See this documentation article for a comprehensive breakdown on what situations are supported and why (or why not).
Are there any known limitations?
Version 1.0 of Legal Signing launched with a handful of limitations:
  • Payments are not directly supported with all form and workflow scenarios (see this documentation for more information).
  • Only one signing workflow may be active for an individual form at one time. You can have multiple Legal Signing feeds added to a form to generate multiple documents, but only one of those feeds can use a Signing Workflow to generate a legally binding document.
  • Legal Signing workflows will not trigger when using the form preview. The form must be embedded in a post or page and submitted from that location to trigger the workflow.
  • The library that powers PDF document generation for Legal Signing does not support certain language fonts, most notably RTL based languages (Arabic, Hebrew, etc) and certain characters in some languages that require additional post processing for complex diacritical marks (Polish is a common example of one of these).
Will my PDF styling/CSS be retained?
No. When you import a PDF, only the fields are mapped. The styling itself is discarded. The styling used will be that of a default form, although this can be modified with the use of CSS.

PDF formatting elements like font size, font color, etc. in the actual base PDF template will however be respected when the PDF is generated.
Are my templates globally available?
Yes! When you create a template in Legal Signing, that template becomes available on any site where you're using your license key.

If you'd like to only show templates created on the current site, you can use this developer filter.
Do you have a data processing agreement?
We know the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires Data Controllers (you) to have proper contracts in place with Data Processors (us) to ensure that we treat with no less care and confidentially than you are required to.

If you need a signed data processing agreement, please contact support.
Is Legal Signing HIPAA compliant?
To the limited extent our service may provide access to ePHI, we strive to guard against unauthorized access to ePHI that is transmitted electronically by implementing technical safeguards such as 256-bit encryption to secure the data in motion and at rest.

If you require a signed business associate agreement as part of your organization's HIPAA compliance, please contact support.
Can I upgrade my license after purchase?
Absolutely! You can upgrade your license at any time, for the difference in cost. Learn more about the license upgrade process.
Do you offer support?
Every CosmicGiant plugin comes with premium support. A Gravity Forms expert will answer each support request with tickets being answered within one business day.

There's no such thing as first-tier and second-tier support at CosmicGiant; you'll be answered by an expert every time.
Are you a Gravity Forms Certified Developer?
Yes! CosmicGiant is one of a select number of Gravity Forms Certified Developers. Gravity Forms describes its Partners as: “Trusted, valued, and respected, their development work is unrivaled when it comes to extending Gravity Forms.” All our plugins are Gravity Forms Certified Add-Ons, and we’re honored to have this mark of approval.

Plus, Travis and Karl, our Heads of Development and Support respectively, both have spent time working at Rocketgenius, the creator of Gravity Forms.
What requirements does Legal Signing have to run?
The requirements match that of WordPress. Meaning if you can run WordPress, you can run Legal Signing.

Legal Signing also requires PHP 7.1+ and Gravity Forms 2.5+.
What's coming next in Legal Signing?
Take a look at our pricing page for the product, towards the bottom of the chart we list a few things we have coming down the pipeline in future versions and which license plans those features will be included in if you'd like to plan for those in advance.

Some items include live preview of the document to be generated while the user is filling out the Gravity Forms form, and watermarking to name a few.

We're always open to new feature requests to consider as well when planning future versions, so if you have any idea of something you'd like to see added drop us a line in support.

We can't guarantee a particular request will be implemented, but we always take them into account during our planning.
